چکیده

This paper presents a comparative study among friction behavior of several double-acting pneumatic actuators available to industrial use. A brief review covering the manner that pneumatic actuator manufacturers and current literature approach friction force and its usual models also is presented. After depicting friction test methodology and test apparatus, the comparison work is carried out through experimental tests to friction identification from steady state friction-velocity maps, that permit identify the main friction characteristics to each pneumatic cylinder in evaluation. They are Static friction, Coulumb friction, Stribeck friction and Viscous friction, that are important to design a precision pneumatic servo system. Experimental results to cylinders of several manufacturers are presented and show friction characteristics, that vary with actuator manufacturer. To know cylinder friction is an important step to friction compensation and to select the pneumatic actuator. The appropriate choice of actuator manufacturer also can contribute to the precision control success.

An approach to multibody simulation of pneumo-mechanical systems

This work describes a method for the simulation of multiple pneumatic actuators in a context of multi body mechanical systems. The model of the single actuator is based on elliptical approximation of non-linear pneumatic devices; friction and sticking phenomena are considered as well. Pneumatic devices introduce forces and new state variables into the complete multibody system: we developed a s...

Braid Effects on Contractile Range and Friction Modeling in Pneumatic Muscle Actuators

Within braided pneumatic Muscle Actuators (pMA) the braid structure is vital to the actuator’s performance, preventing over-inflation, converting radial expansion into axial contraction and setting limits for both dilation and contraction. This paper seeks to explore the nature of the contractile limit and the hysteresis observed by researchers during the actuation cycle. Maximum actuator dilat...

Development of X-Y Servo Pneumatic-Piezoelectric Hybrid Actuators for Position Control with High Response, Large Stroke and Nanometer Accuracy

This study aims to develop a X-Y dual-axial intelligent servo pneumatic-piezoelectric hybrid actuator for position control with high response, large stroke (250 mm, 200 mm) and nanometer accuracy (20 nm). In each axis, the rodless pneumatic actuator serves to position in coarse stroke and the piezoelectric actuator compensates in fine stroke. Thus, the overall control systems of the single axis...

Fault Detection and Diagnosis for A Multi-Actuator Pneumatic System

of the Dissertation Fault Detection and Diagnosis for A Multi-Actuator Pneumatic System by Kunbo Zhang Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering Stony Brook University 2011 In pneumatic actuating systems, various kinds of faults are key factors in degrading system performance and increasing air consumption. It is therefore valuable to monitor pneumatic systems and implement predictive main...

A Study of an Earthworm type Inspection Robot Movable in Long Pipes

This paper describes development of a three somites earthworm type mobile inspection robot which is able to move in long pipes. We have many small diameter pipes which are gas or water pipes for individual or corporate houses and boilers or hot water pipes for industries. They are settled in the ground horizontally or in the narrow spaces vertically and some of them are covered by casings or ha...
